A little less terminal

Folder sync.
Less ceremony.

Your folders, in sync. Their status, a click away. A quiet, native macOS companion for Mutagen that lives in your menu bar.

macOS 14+ · Apple Silicon & Intel · Free & open source

Small interface. Real synchronization.
The Symplast menu-bar panel showing a connected folder, a remote needing attention, and a saved session.
Everything you need. Nothing in your Dock.

Out of the way. In the loop.

A small window into
what’s moving.

01 / Stay informed

Know where things stand.

Connection health, sync direction, and file counts at a glance. A red menu bar icon when something needs your attention.

02 / Take control

Pause. Resume. Carry on.

Manage sessions without a command to remember. Edit targets, reveal folders, or restart a saved definition in a few clicks.

03 / Make it yours

Your folders. Your rules.

SSH servers or local folders. Two-way sync or one-way replication. Ignore build output and keep the things that matter.

One app. Two ways in.

Make yourself
at home.

Native SwiftUI. No account, no subscription.
Mutagen does the syncing; Symplast keeps it close.

A quiet debut, coming soon.

The first public release is being prepared. Downloads will appear here when they’re ready.

The Homebrew tap is being prepared alongside the first release.

Before the first click

A note about
first launch.

Public downloads are being prepared for Developer ID signing and Apple notarization. Check the release notes for the status of the build you download. Development builds may be blocked by macOS; never disable Gatekeeper to install them.

Drag Symplast to Applications, then open it from Applications or Spotlight. Look for its icon in the menu bar, not the Dock.

SSH targets need a working SSH key and agent. Symplast cannot prompt for a password or key passphrase. Quitting the app does not stop your Mutagen sessions.
